WAKEFIELDS SPREADS JOY TO OVER EIGHTY CHILDREN IN FESTIVE CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION

Category Community Upliftment

This holiday season, the spirit of Christmas came alive as Wakefields' management and staff, from branches across the province, joined hands to bring joy to over eighty children. On Tuesday, 4 December, the Wakefields team embarked on a heartwarming journey to Inanda Road in Hillcrest, where they celebrated the festive season with their chosen charitable organisation for children, Focus on iThemba.

Caring lies at the heart of Christmas, and Wakefields embraced this sentiment wholeheartedly. Earlier this year, the company pledged R100 000 to support various projects within Focus. This pledge extends beyond a single financial contribution; as it is part of Wakefields ongoing commitment to this initiative.

What sets Wakefields apart is that their engagement with Focus on iThemba goes beyond corporate initiatives. It is a collective effort that involves the entire staff. The Wakefields team has built a relationship with the organisation that goes beyond monetary donations, focusing on small, meaningful gestures that enhance the daily lives of these children.

In the lead-up to the Christmas celebration, Wakefields staff opened their hearts and wallets. They went shopping, devoted their time, packed boxes with care, and even took up knitting needles to create handmade toys.

The Christmas boxes presented to the children were more than just gifts; they contained some basic hygiene items, along with treats like soccer balls and dolls. These special deliveries brought immense joy to the children and their caregivers, whether they were older siblings, grandparents, or single parents.

Tyron Smith, a property practitioner at Wakefields' Kloof branch, highlighted the collective effort of the staff. "I hadn't been to the school before, and I was blown away by the work they do. It's an amazing place, and the children were so appreciative. Really makes our effort, small as it is, so incredibly worthwhile."

In spreading joy to these children, Wakefields has exemplified the true spirit of Christmas, where compassion and generosity light up the lives of those in need.
