PALM VIEW ESTATE - STYLISHLY AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR THE NORTH COAST

Category Development News

The long-awaited launch of the first phase of the gated Palm View Estate in Shakaskraal, was a massive success - a phenomenal 350 people over three days! Wakefields' Ballito sales office and the Estate's on-site sales office are hives of activity.

The weekend of August 27th was the rainiest and coldest in a long while...but did that stop those for whom Palm View Estate represented something completely different in that price range? Not a chance. The pent-up demand for a coastal life in a secure, gated estate on the North Coast at an appealing price point meant no deluge was going to stop them.

Three hundred and fifty people over the three days, visited the three different show homes - there are in fact eight different unit types from which to choose, but these three gave everybody the full look and feel of the home and life at Palm View Estate. The all-time low interest rates, transfer duty exemption for homes under R1m, and no transfer costs for a new build, were also attractive reasons to head north!

A stream of cars headed there from Phoenix to Verulam, Tongaat and Stanger, and the prospective buyers ranged from first-time homeowners, to families - largely young, but also retirees - and young professionals who wanted to get a foot in the property market. The reaction was entirely favourable: "As real estate consultants, there's nothing more satisfying than exceeding expectations. That's what the homes at Palm View Estate did. Everybody loved the architecture - light, bright and contemporary - was thrilled with the excellent security, and loved the idea that, within Homeowner Association rules, they could improve their homes," says Myles Wakefield, CEO of Wakefields Real Estate.

This, the first phase of the Estate, is known as Palm View Eco Estate. It consists of 218 homes - and around 120 are sold! "Clearly, this estate is exactly what the market wanted and needed," says Wakefield. "We weren't at all surprised at the response, because this sector of north coast residents hasn't been presented with an opportunity such as this before: an estate with a range of affordabilities and unit/home sizes, excellent security, quality builds, three show houses, and visible infrastructure already in place. Security features include high-level CCTV cameras, biometric access control, 24 hour manned guardhouses, and the estate is walled and gated. Well respected developers, Derek Warren Developments, have made this a modern estate in every sense of the word - exciting architecture and fresh thinking about the value and appeal of open green spaces, so that not only will each home be good-looking, but the entire Estate. The lifestyle is a big drawcard."

The vision for Palm View Estate will roll out over the next five to ten years, and everything from retail to schooling is planned. The video on the website gives a good taste of the future: www.palmviewestate.co.za.
