MEET KEVIN MULLINS - WAKEFIELDS' NEW DURBAN NORTH BRANCH MANAGER

Category Residential Property News

Wakefields' busy Durban North branch has a brand new face at the helm. Kevin Mullins brings a fresh skillset to the role which will benefit buyers and sellers as much as sales consultants

New Wakefields branch manager Kevin Mullins is heading up the strong Wakefields team in Durban North, and he's brought with him two key skills as game changers for both experienced and intern sales consultants. Kevin has a long and strong history of education, specifically in real estate, and was at the helm of the South African Real Estate Academy (SAREA) in Durban. He spent many years training and guiding real estate sales consultants throughout the country, and during that time, strengthened his knowledge by adding an LLB to his honours degree in psychology. Kevin was admitted as an advocate, and it was a natural progression that he would lean towards property law. He has acted in various matters, from disputed right-of-way servitudes to commission claims. In effect, those undergoing real estate training at the Academy benefited hugely from his combination of skills.

The team at Wakefields in Durban North is doing likewise. So, too, will new interns to the industry, because Kevin's determined to offer young self-starters the best possible platform to launch a satisfying career in real estate: "Aside from the obvious attributes required for the industry, I'm committed to completing our team with determined, self-reliant newcomers who have a great capacity and propensity to learn. You'll have the initial advantage of comprehensive in-house training from the Wakefields Academy, backed by the in-the-field follow-up support by myself and the experienced consultants in our Durban North office. We've been there. We fully recognise the gap between learning to be a sales consultant, and actually working successfully in the market place - we'll equip you with the hands-on skills, and provide the support you need. Just bring your capacity for 'perseverance' to our Durban North table!"

Kevin says he doesn't micromanage people. It's not how he leads: "I set goals and targets, and I leave individuals to deliver them, as long as it's within the clear parameters of the #WakefieldsWay. Clichéd or not, I have an entirely open door policy for all, and I always canvas opinions from our senior property consultants who I see as valuable resources to the manager."

The convergence of education, training and law, makes Kevin Mullins the ideal fit for his new managerial role in the Durban North branch. His door is wide open, and his mantra is 'perseverance'. Both clients and his team are already reaping the rewards of that commitment to successful transactions, the #WakefieldsWay.
