IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME AT FOCUS ON iTHEMBA
Category General News
The school, Focus on iThemba in Hillcrest, is Wakefields’ chosen charity and at this time of the year, every member of the Wakefields team makes sure that Christmas for young children is precisely as it should be. JOYFUL.
Christmas is a time of giving, and that’s what the Wakefields team does for the children of Focus on iThemba. Friday November 24 was D-Day, as everybody rolled up their sleeves to ensure that each schoolchild received a bulging Santa Shoe Box for Christmas. No less than 67 boxes were filled with a range of goodies, and wrapped with love and care. In the box, was everything from toiletries to soccer balls, toys, sweets, you name it. From practical items to pure play and pleasure, each box was jam packed.
A number of years ago, Wakefields chose Focus on iThemba as their sole charity, one in which they put all their energy, and all their charitable funding. Every Wakefields team member throughout KZN is intimately involved. The school is situated in Hillcrest, a suburb in which the Wakefields brand has operated for many decades - it’s a charity supporting children, and it’s one which aims to boost the future of these young people and give them opportunities to excel. Wakefields funds the fees for a number of identified children, and every Wakefields team member is able to contribute a percentage of their sales commissions or, indeed, any amounts they choose, to the cause.
At Christmas, every single person at Wakefields is involved. Whether they’re wrapping, buying, funding or transporting the boxes. It’s a really wonderful occasion, and nothing, but nothing, beats the singing and happiness of the children when they’re given their Christmas gifts. It makes it all so worthwhile.
